Jeff Leon manages Leon & Leon's legal practice.
Mr. Leon graduated with highest distinction and Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Virginia's Economics Honors Program. As an undergraduate, Mr. Leon was the President of the Virginia Debaters and won numerous national awards in public speaking competitions. He graduated from the University of Virginia Law School with membership in Order of the Coif. While at Virginia Law School, Mr. Leon was on the Editorial Board of the Virginia Law Review and a member of the Moot Court Board.
After clerking during law school summers with Arent, Fox and Jones, Day in Washington, D.C. and Heller, Ehrman in San Francisco, Mr. Leon served for two years as a clerk for the Hon. Norma Holloway Johnson, U.S. District Judge for the District of Columbia. Thereafter, he began practice in the Bay Area, initially for Heller, Ehrman and then for the San Francisco office of Los Angeles-based Jeffer, Mangels.
While at these firms in addition to his commercial litigation case load on behalf of such companies as Manville Corporation and Shell Oil, Mr. Leon served as a volunteer public defender and also directed a major First Amendment battle on behalf of an award-winning journalist and The San Francisco Chronicle against the Federal Bureau of Prisons. Mr. Leon received national media attention including appearing as a guest on Ted Koppel's Nightline, recognition as the Attorney of the Year by the Bay Area Society for Professional Journalists, and high praise for his work on the case in the book Committing Journalism.
Jeff and Debbie Leon began Leon & Leon over ten years ago. As an experienced trial lawyer and litigator, Jeff Leon continues to build upon his litigation expertise with particular emphasis in the areas of real estate (including eminent domain and construction), environmental, product liability, employment and other complex commercial (including unfair competition) disputes.
With his big-firm experience, Mr. Leon brings a sophisticated and creative approach to both litigation and litigation counseling with an openness to all forms of alternative dispute resolution. At the same time, however, directing a small firm allows him to staff cases leanly, to be more attentive to his clients' ongoing needs, and to be price-competitive.
