  • Handled numerous suits on behalf of property owners against governmental entities involving total or partial condemnation of property, including commercial and business property, business goodwill and various easements.
  • Won $3.5 million eminent domain jury verdict in suit where government entity claimed that the property was worthless. This case, which was affirmed by the First District Court of Appeal, involved an earthquake-damaged and environmentally-impaired property in downtown Oakland. The City of Oakland had offered the owners only $1 for the property, claiming that the cost of demolishing the structure far exceeded the value of the property. In addition to the $3.5 million jury verdict, the City of Oakland also was required to pay all of the property owner's legal fees and costs.
